first of all i have to say that my suitcase arrived today and i’m sooooo glad that i have all my stuff now
bueno, i’m spending my first days in argentina now and i have to say i looooooove it. Currently i’m in rosario, a city with like about 1,3 mio. inhabitants, spending a week to preperate me for my exchange. Most of the times we have spanish lessons wich are pretty boring, but besides that we do real cool stuff. for example today we had some tango classes wich was really interesting. We also did a boats trip on the rio paraná today and yesterday we just walked arround in the part of the city we’re located in…
i knew that argentinians drink lots of mate (some kinda green tea which is like the national drink of argentinia) but i didn’t expect it was THAT much!! and i also didn’t expect that it would LOVE it..ot tastes a bit bitter but also has some kinda own taste which i can’t discribe right now
they even’t put mate-herbs in their food xD
food…another thing i could write sooo much about. Breakfast is pretty boring it’s just sweet stuff like croissants and very bad coffee. But lunch is delicious, they have 3 dishes first some “small” starters like empanadas (delicious little “breads” filled with meat, cheese or other things), then looooots of meat (beef or chicken yummi) and then dessert. Dinner is like the same as lunch. Something you have to know by talking about argentina is that they eat dulce de leche (it’s some cream of caramel, really sweet) all day long. It’s comparable to nutella, with the only difference that they don’t only eat it with bread but also in cookis, icecreams, cake, for dessert and mucho mas. I really love the argentinian food, though i already feel like 20 kg bigger than when i left germany. I’m not that happy bout the drinks, except mate, they ONLY drink coke and almost no water, and if they drink water then without gas.
Today i also went shopping for the 1st time, everything is wayyyy cheaper than in germany (for example converse chucks are about 30€ or less, in germany you pay like 70).
in general everything is cheaper here, not only clothes, for example a coffee in a restaurant is like 2,50 pesos (about 45ct) and my school uniform is gonna cost about 30 US$.
I’m actually very surprised how much spanish i’m able to understand, they speak much more clearlier than i expectected
i’ll also upload some fotos soon, just don’t have had time yet..
hope to hear from you soon,
besitos, lisa
